We spend the majority of our childhood preparing for and dreaming about the rest of our lives. By the time we become teenagers, we are ready for that next stage in life. Most of us have already begun thinking about everything from growing up and getting married to the job we will need to support our future family. We are taught from a young age that opportunities will present themselves more often to those who are better educated. The majority of our high school career consists of preparing for the reality of life, as well as what we will experience during our extended schooling. For many people, college is not part of the next stage in life. But as for me, I feel that attending college is necessary for person success. Attending college is much more than simply an extended education. The true “college experience” consists of adapting to a completely different way of life and, more importantly, growing as individuals. College also improves many of our everyday skills. Communication and interaction skills will be taken to new levels as we attend classes with hundreds of students. Note-taking and writing skills will improve after hours spent listening to lectures and trying to write down all the information given to us during classes.
