As a child, playing by the pool was fun, but I know realize water can be dangerous. The events of that summer day made me realize how fast life can flash before your eyes. It was a humid, mid-July day in 1986; my family and I were grilling out at our house. I was four years old at the time. The sun was shining brightly over our backyard, and the smell of the food being cooked was drifting in the air. My father, wearing his usual cut off blue jean shorts and white tee shirt, had started cooking on the grill. Being a typical child, I had gotten bored so I went to find my big sister, who was playing in the sand box. “Hey sissy, do you want to go swimming with me for a little bit?” I asked.
