Act utilitarianism is the value of the consequences of the particular act that counts when determining whether the act is right. The principle of act utilitarianism is that the morality of each action is to be determined in relation to the favorable or unfavorable consequences that emerge from that action. Rule utilitarianism is a formulation utilitarianism, which maintains a behavioral code is morally right if the consequences of adopting that rule are more favorable than unfavorable to everyone.
