The power of prayer
Matthew 6:9-13
“Our father in heaven,
May your name be honoured. ... ”
Introduction
The power of a single prayer can be seen as a form of ritual. ...
So ritual can then be seen a form of ceremony spiritual beings such as you and I do in order to connect with the most high: GOD, CHRIST and The HOLY SPIRIT, this can be done with a specific dance, songs or in the form of conversation (prayer).
Content
As I’ve said in the beginning ritual can be seen as a form of ceremony-a way in which we connect with a higher power.
The ultimate power I connect with is Jesus Christ; he gives me life, joy endless peace and everything I need to get through the day. For me prayer is something very personal and is done in utmost secrecy, for I feel as soon as I tell others about my conversation with God it travels in the spiritual realm not reaching the right place and it goes to waste, so by keeping it between God and myself the prayer becomes more powerful. I also ask my close friends and family to pray for me and with me in effect making the prayer even more powerful cause we all have the same belief system and thus have a communal consciousness- it stands in the bible that if one or more agrees on the same thing God will give us what we ask for:
I quote Matthew 18: 19 and 20
“I also tell you this: If two of you agree down here on earth concerning anything you ask, my father in heaven will do it for you. ...
During prayer I completely open myself for physical and emotional healing, to ask, and to repent, if I do it alone or with my close friends and family doesn’t as long as we keep it sealed between the group and God. ...
It is said in the bible that when you praise the lord before you start prayer he will be there with you. ... God is set apart from the power, practise, and presence of sin, and is set apart to absolute righteousness and goodness. ...
It is written in scriptures: “ if you believe, you will receive what ever you ask for in prayer”
This then becomes a ritual for the reason that I do this daily and done a specific way, for a ritual is something that is done a specific way you can almost say it becomes a habit after a while. ...
The cross can also be seen as a fetish but more in a ritual sense, I say this cause when ever we want to get closer to God we start touching and rubbing specific objects such as the cross for example, I don’t know why we as humans do it, might be because we always want to see something physically in order to strengthen our belief system or it might just be that a fetish deals with the absolute, a metaphysical power that’s beyond power, unexplainable, I really don’t know.
