Physical evidence plays a major role in the solving of any crime. An offender will bring physical evidence to a crime scene or leave it there without any knowledge of doing so, thinking that they have just committed the “perfect” crime. ... The most important task associated with the discovery of physical evidence takes place when the first officer arrives on the scene. After approaching the crime scene, it is extremely important to secure then protect the area (SCCJA Crime Scene Response and Physical Evidence). ...
