Personal Narrative

The sun was shining as a light wind blew, bringing a sense of relief from the first warm day of spring. The greenery had just come back to life from a harsh, cold winter and I could smell the scent of fallen rain. It had been raining for days; the ground was still damp with moisture as we started down the path. My friends and I were hiking on Eno mountain on this particular day, a day that would change my life for the better. It was my birth, April 23, my best friend and I had planned a joint birthday picnic in celebration. What a beautiful day to have a picnic, it had been raining for days but that Saturday morning when we were arranging decorations the sun beat down on us with great strength. The invitations had been handed out, the food was prepared; Jackie and I waited for our friends to arrive. One by one everyone that had been invited arrived as we all say down to eat. What a joyous occasion it was, the food was great, and the love from my friends made it a wonderful birthday. After finishing our meal, some guests had to leave including Jackie. Everyone left leaving Meredith, Kaye, Jessica, Gray, and I with nothing to do.
