Romeo and Juliet "A pair of star-crossd lovers" (prologue, 6) whose romance with each other was doomed at the beginning and ended as a tragedy. ... However, there are a number of other factors that maybe considered to be responsible. Fate and most importantly the lovers themselves, Romeo and Juliet.
The feud between the two families was one factor that contributed to the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. ... This hatred between their families caused many problems for Romeo and Juliet. For instance Lord Capulet, Juliets father, has arranged that Juliet "shall be married to this noble earl. ... A man Juliet does not love. This sudden announcement does not stop Romeo in becoming Juliets husband. ... For if their families discovered that they have married, they would not have allowed Romeo and Juliet to see each other. Tybalt, Juliets cousin, has contributed to the separation of Romeo and Juliet for he, "As (I) hate hell, all Montagues, and thee. ... This hatred caused him to fight against, both Mercutio and Romeo, resulting Tybalt killing Mercutio and Tybalt being killed by Romeo. Also resulting in the "exile" of Romeo by the Prince, making it even more difficult for the lovers to be together. After the death of Tybalt, Lord Capulet announces that Juliet will be married to County Paris on Thursday. Since Juliet is already married to Romeo, she could not bare breaking the vows of her marriage, making her take drastic measures. ... At the beginning the only people that could end the rivalry was Romeo and Juliet by ". ... with their death bury their parents strife". ... This feud was part of what brought Romeo and Juliet together and to their deaths.
Although fate seems to control what happens to Romeo and Juliet, their choices contribute more to their fate than fate itself. Although some reasons that Romeo and Juliet die are out of their control, fate is not the largest reason that the lovers end up dying. For example, when Romeo hears of Juliets death before he is told that it is a false death.
