SUMMARY PHONOLOGICAL DISORDERS IN CULTURALLY DIVERSE POPULATIONS: INTERVENTION ISSUES AND STRAGIES. This chapter began talking about what speech is and what it means to be able to speak. Speech is thought to be the best way for communication. It is thought to be efficient and effective. Although we all use speech in various ways, it still holds the same meaning; a way to get a message across through use of words, emotions, symbols, and of course feelings. Speech Language Pathologist are often faced with determining whether or not a person has a disorder or difference. This can often mean therapy or no therapy. If a person has no problem, then why treat them. The chapter then talked about how we as people develop vocally.
