The structure of the education system is regulated by the LOGSE and the LOU (graph 1.1. ). The Organic Act on the General Organisation of the Education System (LOGSE) of 1990 establishes the basic structure of the Spanish education system and reforms previous stages, levels and nonuniversity education. It takes a gradual approach towards reform and establishes a calendar for implementing the new legislation at the same time as the parallel extinction of the older forms of education, between 1990 and 2003.
