The Rainforest

Last Week, TRC, working in solidarity with Groupo Osanimi of California and the Santi Family of Ecuador (a legalized rainforest indigenous community), completed purchase of a rain forest property of 70 hectares (about 168) arces. This parcel of land, adjacent to a previous parcel purchased by TRC in trust for this community, will amplify the previous reserve held to a total of 672 acres or 280 hectares. This property is located in the Llushin River Valley, the "eyebrow of the Andes, overlooking the great Andean rainforest plain and is unusual for this area in that almost half consists of primary rain forest. This purchase for the traditional forest community brings a new wave of hope for their future. To find assistance in recovering the original tribal lands is part of a fullfillment of a prophecy; that those who followed the original ways of caretaking the Forest will be cared for.
