This incident took me all the way back to my long-forgotten days in school, and I rediscovered the real spirit behind Teachers Day! Teachers Day is not about letting teachers know that you appreciate their work, or that you are grateful that they spend so much time or energy on you! ... You may argue that students try to do that every day of the year anyway, so whats new? But as all students know, theres nothing quite like the satisfaction you get from knowing that the teachers are actually going to thank you at the end of the wasted day!
At the risk of being labeled a traitor by my fellow students, Ive decided to let you in on the way the Teachers Day Fiasco is planned. On the morning of the big day, all the students collect together to decide how to achieve their one express goal- wasting as much time as possible. In most schools, Teachers Day is counted as a semi-instructional day. That means that school authorities decree that regular classes will be conducted for half the day, after which the exchange of cards and flowers is permitted in an orderly fashion. ... So the Teachers Day Chaos Committee (consisting of exceptionally criminal students) draws out the agenda (sampled below), which is circulated amongst the students.
