Uncomfortable Evening

|
I was sitting in my University 101 class one morning and heard about this horrid act I had to perform in order to write this paper. I was informed that I had to take a professor out to lunch or dinner. I was mortified. I have never been the spontaneous person that avidly enjoys hanging out with unfamiliar people much less taking them to a restaurant. I am shy, soft-spoken, and always short on words. This would become the most dreadful task I had ever accomplished. Luckily, something evoked this memory of a Spanish professor that I met at a foreign language camp in Georgia. After constantly conversing with her for that weekend, I learned that she lived in Sumter and taught Spanish at the University of South Carolina. Hastily, I looked up her name and gave her a call. She was absolutely honored that I called her in a case like this and said that she would gladly join me from dinner at the local mexican restaurant in Sumter. However, there was a catch. I could only speak to the waiters in spanish and most of our conversation would, also, be in spanish. I was a little worried about how that would possibly work considering I have not spoken the language in three or four months.
