Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Independence Day are movies that seem different but are similar in the way that they were both made after a man had his first trip to the moon and outer space, that reflected an idea of life off the earth. Both movies basically contain the same ideas about life in outer space, but they have different views on extraterrestrial life. These two movies both have a broad subject of alien contact, but they are not really alike. A more noticeable similarity is that in both movies there was a form of a government cover-up. In Close Encounters of the Third Kind the government found out the location of the aliens that were in Idaho and had to scare away the citizens in that area.
