Lost in Translation

“Lost in Translation,” the 2003 written, produced and directed by Sofia Coppola, daughter of famed director Francis Ford Coppola is a film that shows how two completely different people thrown together in a strange situation can come together and form a lasting bond. The story revolves around two main characters. Bob, played by Bill Murray in a performance that should draw some attention from the Academy, is an actor whose star is quickly fading who has come to Tokyo to film a series of commercials for a whiskey company. His career is on the skids, and his marriage is a façade. His wife only seems interested in talking to him about problems with the kids and carpet samples. These transitions in his life have led him to Japan, and we see how the story unfolds.
