A quick google search reveals over 2000 references to The Matrix and Gnosticism; The official Matrix Philosophy section has an essay on the subject, and a couple of well known essays on other sites have given the topic some good thought. ...
First off, after reading the brief summary of gnostic history presented in the book, one thing is immediatly apparent; either the W bros intentionally meant the matrix movies to be a direct reflection of 2000 year old Gnostic mysticism, or they are the luckiest writers in the world.
