Raging Bull I would give Raging Bull 2 and a half stars on a 4 star scale. This may have been one of the most influential movies of the 1970’s, but I particularly did not care for it. The fight scenes with Jake are some of the most realistic, bloody, and brutal boxing scenes that I have ever watched. The sweat and blood spraying everywhere might have turned me off a little, along with the wife beating. There was not much of a plot to Raging Bull. This movie was a character study of Jake La Motta. This movie is based on a true story of Jake La Motta, played by Robert DiNiro. He has severe mental problems that lead to the downfall of his career and family. The only way that he can express him self is through violence. It does not matter whether he is in the ring or not. This movie covers the downfall of his life. Jake can not maintain a relationship with anyone nor relate to anyone, especially women. The person that he is the closest to is his brother, played by Joe Pesci. Rather that solving his problems in a reasonable fashion, he takes them out on his wife and brother.
