How was television involved with the films when it got introduced? The big game in the world was the movies. Television had been considered the opposite, in gained similarity to the postage stamp; it has to draw you in. In 1951, a different world appeared for the American society, as television became part of everyday life. Movie theatres were closing in waves, Hollywood began to fall apart as well. The monopoly of the movies came to an end. Hollywood reacted to television like a plot to the movies, at first denial, followed by the threatening of fierce competition, and finally embracing it.
