Why Color Should Not Matter

After reading the article, “White Privilege, Color, and Crime” written by Peggy McIntosh, I felt like giving her a really big hug. ... It is like a secret line that divides us, nobody sees it, but it does not mean it is not there. Just by them having a pale color pigment they can do almost anything they put their minds to, and have no doubt that they will come true. Caucasians do not have people telling them that although they have the right credentials, they have already selected someone else for the job. When that person of color finds out that the person hired had two years less experience and to top it off, the person is white. Just imagine how they felt knowing that their color had a major influence on them not getting that job.
Don’t get me wrong, we have a lot of successful people of color in this society, but they all had to kiss a lot more ass and work twice as hard and long to get where they are now. I feel that is not right for us to have put so much sacrifice on being successful and all because we are of color.
