Drums

The Cursed By Alegna Inobrac Chapter 1 It was a dark and dreary day. Freezia couldn’t see it and she really didn’t care anyway. She picked up her bat and felt around for the baseball. She finally found it and started to head outside. “Freezia Emily Fielding!” her mother called. “What Ma,” she called back recognized her mother soft voice. “Its going to rain, stay inside!” “The rain in Spain doesn’t fall in Massachusetts!” Freezia shouted trying her best to confuse her mother. “Well it does in Marble Bay. Do you not see those gray rain clouds???” Her mother choked on her own words. “I’m sorry Zia....I forgot...sincerely...I forgot,” she added. “You forgot I was blind??? Your horrible Ma!!” Freezia shouted. She stormed out the front door. Freezia knew her front yard like the back of her hand. She knew every gopher hole and every flower pot. Baseball and bat in hand she walked towards the road. Her and her mom lived in the small house at the end of Pine Radial Drive , a dead end street. Only one house, besides hers, was at the end of the street. It belonged to Trina Cervantez and her mom and dad. Freezia often heard Trina’s mom and dad fighting. She felt bad for Trina because she knew how Trina felt. Her mother and father had gotten divorced four years ago. Her father moved to New Jersey while she and her mom stayed in Massachusetts. Standing by the street she knelt down to make sure she was by the road and not anywhere else. She felt the cold concrete and stood back up. She looked both ways, which was useless since she couldn’t see. She shrugged it off and hauled herself across the street. She stopped dead in her tracks when she felt the grass beneath her toes. Since she didn’t know Trina’s yard very well she just called Trina’s name until she came out. Trina was dressed in an evening gown. Her soft curly hair was tied into a bun. “Was Zup Z?” Trina asked. “Nothing much, want to play some baseball?” “Cant, Its going to rain,” “Can you sound anymore like my mom,” “Freezia Emily Fielding! I don’t want to get my new dress wet, so no!” “New dress!! Let me see!!!!!!!” Freezia squealed. Freezia didn’t really mean see, she meant touch, but the words just flew out of her mouth. Trina understood what she meant. She took hold of Freezia’s hand and rested it on her velvet sleeve. “Velvet...wow...is it white?” Freezia asked memorized by the soft velvet. Of course she didn’t know what white really looked like but her mom once told her that it was a blank color sort of like air. “No, its light blue. It’s very pretty,” Trina replied taking the matching scunchie out of her hair and putting on Freezia’s wrist. “Thanks Tri,” Freezia put her hand on the velvet scrunchie . “No problem Z, I got to jet, see you later!” Freezia heard Trina turn around and walk back inside. She stood in the Trina’s front yard until she heard Trina slam her front door. Freezia sighed deeply. She hung her head as she stomped back over to her house. The thunder echo over head warning that rain was coming. For a moment Freezia wished that the lighting would strike her and give her her vision back. She had always wanted to see the cute boys all the other girls were babbling about. She would sell her soul to see Brad Pitt, who her mom was always raving about. Freezia wasn’t paying attention to where she was going.
