1. Homeostasis is the maintenance of the internal stability of a cell, organism, or population in its environment. 2. Selective permeability is the condition in which plasma membrane allows passage of some solutes but not others. 3. The plasma membrane is the thin layer on the surface of all cells, consisting mainly of lipids and proteins. 4. A phospholipid is an organic molecule in the plasma membrane of a cell. 5. A fluid mosaic model is a model used to conceptualise cell membranes, in it; the membranes are described as a structually and functionally asymmetric lipid bilayer studded with embedded proteins that aid in cross-membrane transport.
