JACK S RAGING BILE DUCT AND THE DEMISE OF THE HARROW SCENE OR HOW I LEARNED

So I got to Wembley Rugby Club at about six o’clock with the aim of interviewing Harrow’s top punkers Jack’s Raging Bile Duct (yes, they take their name from ‘Fight Club’) before doors opened and then reviewing the gig, which included the Uxbridge-based bands Lost For Words, Blind to the Fact and Route 215. ... I met a regular attendee named Sean outside the Rugby Club. I don’t know why he was there so early and, once he offered me a beer, I didn’t care. In exchange for the beer, I let him come in with me for free. We were joined in the bar by the guys from Jack’s Raging Bile Duct (Johann – bass/vocals, Ryan – guitar/vocals and Karl – drums). I tried to convince them all of the merits of the Neo Geo arcade machine (its fucking great, 20p a play on 1 of 9 classic old skool games – shoot-em-ups, basketball, football and the beat-em-up Waku Waku 7, which is possibly the greatest video game ever created!) and then we got onto some more relevant stuff like discussing what Led Zeppelin’s best known song is and whether the other bands on the bill are any good. Apparently Blind to the Fact are pretty good, I didn’t watch them so I can’t tell you much more, but I’ll tell you why I didn’t watch them later.
Jack’s Raging Bile Duct have been playing gigs for two years but this was their first trip to the Rugby Club, and they didn’t seem that impressed, though its definitely a lot bigger then The Shambles in Wealdstone, which is where I last saw them play. After their soundcheck, I went down to the bus stop where Karl was meeting a friend, drawing the obligatory cross on my hand so I could get back in without paying. While we were waiting, I commented on the members of the other bands, saying that they all looked exactly how I’d expect a member of a punk band to look. ... , or a skateboarding company’s logo. ... I always thought that the punk rock ethic preaches individualism so I asked Karl why all those guys looked like really ugly clones.
