The arrival of three new members came at just the time the band started to achieve its greatest success. Seventeen year old Michael Hampton was recruited from the band after being discovered at a party as a replacement for Eddie Hazel, who had joined the Temptations around 1975. Hampton's greatest strength was his incredible versatility, being a superb rhythm player as well as a dazzling lead guitarist.
