SHould Eminems music be banned

Over the past decades, the issue of censoring controversial music artists has been continuously questioned by the public, and now in the 21st century, rapper Eminem has been placed in the spotlight. However, this controversy should not be what silences Eminem, thus his music should not be banned in Australia. Banning Eminem’s music would mean that we are violating his rights of freedom of speech. As well as this, in his lyrics Eminem speaks of the problems associated in our society, he does not incite violence and should not be judged upon as a bad role model. In an addition, censoring Eminem’s music may also be pointless, as it will only encourage more people to listen rather than discourage them.

Censoring Eminem’s music would be an undemocratic solution as it is eliminating the artist’s freedom of speech. ... By setting a ban on the rapper’s music, the Australian government would be contradicting their stance and creating the views of an autocratic system. ... Eminem, who is no different to other human beings, chooses to use the form of music to put forth his beliefs.
