uptown throwdown

Uptown Throwdown Early in hip hop DJs were the most influential parts of the music industry. They were the poineers. There were DJs doing there thing alone before rap and MCs even came into the picture. One of, if not the biggest influences on hip hop, was Afrika Bambaataa. He was not only one of the best DJs of his time, but he was also the founder of the Zulu Nation. DJs like DJ Herc and DJ Francis Grasso brought in the new style of only playing the popular fragments of records. Before them DJs simply went smoothly from one record to the next. DJ Herc used to show off and outdo Grandmaster Flash because he had a much more powerful system. But Grandmaster Flash ended up mastering punch phasing and scratching and pretty soon became quite popular. Around that time, in1974, break-beat music, hip hop culture and disco all came out at the same time.
