Variations on a Theme

=11/13/2002= Music: Variations on a Theme I am, by and large, a joyless individual. Ask anyone who knows me. Okay, so that's not really true. I actually have a lot of fun, and enjoy life perhaps a little too much. I'm one of those people who can be eerily energetic regardless of how much sleep I've had, how long I've been awake, how much I've eaten, the time of day, the season, etc... I'm also far more easily amused than most, to the point the I frequently find myself chuckling to some little oddball thought I had in the back corner of my mind. And to try to explain my thought process to anyone else, and what brings about these little moments of mirth, would leave both listener and speaker scratching their heads in confusion. I'm the kind of person who isn't bothered by pain because, hey, it's a new experience; I'm too curious for my own good. I like to philosophize and theologize and theorize and go bowling. (Camp Fire philosophy is, of course, the best kind.) Oh, I have my funks and blue moods like anyone else, but, for the most part, I seem to be perpetually cheerful. This, of course, leads people to be quite frightened of me. It's those people who never seem to be bothered by anything that you are convinced must be controlled by the pods or something. Actually, one of the times I'm most prone to laughing and cracking jokes seems to be when I am ill, and especially during asthma attacks. That's just creepy. "Hey, I can't breathe! Ha ha ha! Hoo-eee! Man... check out these cool noises I can make when my lung caves in!" Ah, but that's not what I came to tell you about, and I kinda ran out of steam just then, so I'll get back to my original topic, which has yet to be introduced: Music -- one of the things that brings me joy.
