Privacy is an issue that has plagued the mind of man for years. The question isn’t if we want privacy, the question is can we truly attain privacy in the world that we live in. Orwell wrote about this very problem in his book 1984. Orwell showed how the world was going in a direction where the ruling class would take all privacy away in order to keep power. 1984 showed how your privacy would be taken away through televisions, radios and microphones. ... 1984 is an extreme case of privacy invasion, but it is showing the way that our society is going. Today’s society has many similarities to 1984’s problem with privacy but it is still not to that extreme.
The society we live in has not progressed into the privacy invasion 1984 shows but we still have issues regarding privacy. ... 1984 had Telescreens that were you used for propaganda and also for watching over the people. ...
1984-showed Winston and Julia doing everything they could to attain privacy. ... Today man goes to great lengths to protect his privacy. ... A house that doesn’t have a fence is uncommon and if you have a fence, you create a barrier that people are not able to see through for your privacy. ... ” The world that is described in 1984 is not that far off after all.
