Heroes have been written about throughout literary history to tell the story of brave warriors who risk everything to save others. ... The character of Beowulf from the anonymous “Beowulf” and the character of King Arthur from T. ... White’s “The Once and Future King” are two heroes whose stories parallel one another. I have chosen to compare these two great literary heroes. ... Beowulf used an ancient sword that he found in Grendal’s mother’s cave to kill the vicious monster. ... ” Beowulf later used this same sword in his final battle, where the ancient blade broke in two. King Arthur carried a powerful Excaliber into his final battle. The Excaliber is described as “Arthur’s sword, given to him by the mysterious Lady of the Lake.” In Arthur’s case, his last request was that “the sword be thrown into the lake, back to the creator of the sword”.
