The dilemma of the death penalty is a problem that has plagued man for ages on end. Although, today the concept of the death penalty rears its head as a worse quandary than ever before based on societies leaning towards a more civilized civilization, if indeed that truly exists. ... Gottfried, the author of over twenty-five books for young readers, provides a wonderful insight into capital punishment, which is called “The Death Penalty, Justice or Legalized Murder? ... Capitol punishment, or the death penalty, is best defined as when a felon is convicted of a crime punishable by death. The principal question Gottfried attempts to answer with his book is whether the death penalty is, in fact, justice or legalized murder. ... In this book, Gottfried covers four major topics: the coming about of society’s problem with the death penalty, the pro’s and con’s of capitol punishment, the execution of women, and racism in the death penalty. The Gathering storm is the name of the opening chapter to “The Death Penalty”. ... Ted Gottfried states that polls taken in 1999 constantly showed support of about three to one for the death penalty in capital cases. ...
