“Nobody knows the little rose it might be a pilgrim be…” (Dickinson).Indeed, nobody knew the little rose born in Amherst Massachusetts on December 10, 1830. The daughter of Emily and Edward Dickinson, whose family was well to do and socially prominent. Her father, a lawyer and a politician, was one of the head politicians in the town. Dickinson attended the Amherst academy, which was founded in part by her grandfather. Upon graduation, Dickinson entered the Mount Holyoke female seminary where she attended for a year. About this point is where it gets a little shady. For some unknown reason which there are plenty of mythological explanations, more then factual accounts Dickinson slowly began to seclude herself from society. Witch some say is when her great writing began: If Dickinson did suffer a breakdown of some kind At some point, she transformed that wrenching Experience into art. (Bloom XVII) And oh, what art she would produce! Emily Dickinson should be considered one of literature’s finest writers.
