The story, Fahrenheit, is about a theme of censorship and totalitarian authority. Both the book and the film have the main theme even though there are slight changes in the characters, plot or the setting. As a result of that in both of them the ideas are relevant in the world today, in the past and maybe in the future. One of the major differences between the book and the film is about Clarissa. In the book she is described as a student teenager who was a neighbor of the protagonist of the story, Montag. In contrast in the film she is a young woman who works as a teacher. Moreover the same actor performed both the characters of his wife and Clarisse so that Clarisse seems as old as Montag wife. Therefore we can even think that he and Clarisse can have some emotional relation. Because of that I think in the film Montag even had much love to Clarisse than to his wife. Clarissa has many god characteristics that Mildred did not have. Mildred is an ignorant and self–centered woman who was strictly obedient to the authority. To emphasize her ignorance in the film there was a scene added about the promotion of Montag. When Montag told her that he would be promoted she did not pay attention because she was completely concentrate on the program in the parlor. Different from the Mildred Clarisse had emotions and cares about the others. She thinks about what is really important about life and teaches Montag to do that. Montag began to question his life and the society. He changes from a stolid character to a person conscious about everything and gets self-realization. While she had such an important role on the Montag life she suddenly dies in the book. That cause Montag to get confused between his old thought and new ideas that Clarisse gave him.
