Gatsbys love for Daisy
|

... While he made be able to achieve anything financially when he puts his mind to it, he fails to break away from Daisy, even when he truly does understand there is no flame between them like there was in Louisville. Gatsby has convinced himself that Daisy is happy with his money and would leave Toms “old money” for him. Unfortunately for Gatsby, this scenario coming true only exists in his mind, for Daisy appears financially fine, and by her means completely fine, in Toms presence. The Acknowledgement reveals Gatsbys weakness deeper when Daisy hits Myrtle in a hit and run and kills her, and he is willing to take the blame for this individual that was drifting further and further away from him.
