Noblest Roman
Noblest Roman Marc Antony is arguably the noblest Roman in Shakespeare’s work The Tragedy of Julius Caesar due to his loyalty to Caesar and Rome, Antony’s self-control, and his humility. Throughout the entire play Marc Antony remains loyal to Caesar by being his friend and advisor, always keeping the good of Rome as his main motivator. One might think that Antony bases his friendship with Caesar simply on political and financial reasons. If Antony intends to manipulate Caesar he would not stat,”…I did love thee Caesar, O, ‘tis true! If I then they spirit look upon us now, shall it not grieve thee dearer than thy death…Had I as many eyes as thou has wounds, weeping as fast as they stream forth thy blood it would become me better than to close in terms of friendship with thine enemies”(Shakespeare 2.1.
