RELATIONSHIPS… DR. EMERSON AND KEN HARRISON- Ken and Dr. Emerson’s relationship remains professional all throughout the play. There is no sense of closeness between them, which in turn, keeps them well away from each other and in the end, places them in opposition. Their conversations remain dull throughout because no personal details are revealed. When Dr. Emerson and Ken Harrison first appear (alone –together) in the play, Dr. Emerson gives up his ‘optimism act’ and is frank with Ken although, we can still detect a hint of encouragement within him.
