Scarlet letter

|
The Scarlet Letter was one of the hardest books that I have read in English. It was very hard to understand because it was written in old English. I had to read summary of the book in the Internet in order to understand the full content of the book. The book begins with author’s description of how he found the gold- embroidered piece of cloth in the shape of the letter "A", with a pile of document. The document explains the event taking place in the middle of seventeenth century—a century two hundred years before the narrators. The story takes place in seventeen-century Boston, Massachusetts. As the crowd watches, Hester Prynne, a young woman holding an infant, emerges from the prison door and makes her way to a scaffold (a raised platform), where she is to be publicly condemned.
