The Childish Tyrants

What we do in life echoes in eternity. This is apparent that every man lives with two sides to life, one he wants to show to the world and the other he keeps concealed inside. The epic tale the Odyssey, although it has many different views, portrays Odysseus and Telemachus in a troubled state. In the beginning we find our gallant hero Odysseus, as he’s perched on the edge of the troubled sapphire sea, with his mind plagued over the tragic thoughts of his home land Ithaca. “Off he sat on the headland, weeping there as always, wrenching his heart with sobs and groans and anguish, gazing out over the barren sea through blinding tears.” (Book 5, 93-95) Gallant warrior Odysseus spilling his crystal tears upon the sandy banks, lost in the thoughts of Ithaca. Troubled by his feelings, he views himself a not being able to concur the tyrants that pelage his great halls, consume his cattle, and guzzle his sweet wine. His eyes flow like rivers of tears, pouting like a young child, with such innocence as if he was a lost child. His loyal subjects place Odysseus on a pedicel as a Greek god, who defeated the there great adversary, and stomped out Troy like the flame of a candle that lit up the night. Telemachus viewed his father as an awesome power, but dose not see him grieving, sobbing, crying out for help, just like a lost child would yearn for their parents. Odysseus is looking upon himself as lost child, who wants Calypso to grant him safe passage home, with hopes that he will see his beloved Penelope. With Odysseus son Telemachus, a boy whom had greatly developed from a child, strong and good willed at heart.
