The Human Comedy was published in 1943, during the Second World War. The Human Comedy is written by William Saroyan. The book has seventeen chapters and 95 pages. First I want to introduce the main persons in the book. Homer Macauley is the main character. He is a fourteen year old boy, who goes to school in the morning, and at nights he works in a telegraph office. In the office he works as a telegraph messenger. He is a very nice boy, who is very helpful to everybody. He has bad experiences in the war. His father died two years ago, his brother Marcus is in the army and he must often bring telegrams to other persons when their son died in the war. That's not very easy for him. His brother Ulysses is four years old. He's very nice and he has a careless life. His mother lives with her children in Ithaca, California Santa Clara Avenue. daughter. She loves to make musik with her daughter. She plays an instrument (harp). Her third and oldest son Marcus is in the army.
