1 The witches were the main cause of King Duncan’s death. I believe this because the witches were the first ones to put the idea of killing the king in Macbeths head. The witches gave Macbeth 3 prophecies which were that Macbeth was going to become Thane of Glamis, Thane of Cawdor and King of Scotland. After the first 2 prophesis came true, Macbeth was convinced he was going to become king.
