This not only gives certain students an advantage over others, but it also decreases the self-esteem of those who cannot receive help from their parents, when they hear about their peers’ parents being able to help them, while his/hers cannot. ... Teachers usually have to take the homework home, and check them there, because they simply cannot finish one hundred students’ worth of work within the school day. ... Teachers could then use the extra time to do many things, whether it be explaining the actual lesson more thoroughly, allowing a short work period, or anything productive that may teach students more effectively than a load of homework. ... Additionally, in-class work helps students learn better. The whole objective of going to school is to learn, and doing work in class accomplishes this better as there is a teacher in the classroom to help the students when they do not understand.
