An Innocent Death

In Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, one of the main characters is unable to adjust to his environments and the people he interacts with. As a consequence, it costs him his life. Lennie has immeasurable physical strength on the outside, but on the inside, he is a naïve little boy. Lennie is a kind and gullible, “strong as a bull” (22), but because of his mental disability, he is “dumb as hell” (38). Because of his innocence and stupidity, he unknowingly causes his own death. Lennie is a large, hardworking, senseless rancher, who depends on George for guidance and protection. He is so clueless that “he was [so] damn nice to [George] for pullin’ him out [of the river].
