The forced sterilization of Native American women that took place in 1975 was an illegal secret program set up by the Indian Health Service. The program was intended to prevent Native American women from producing offspring. The act was incontestably projected to minimize or eliminate the American Indian population without committing direct murders. However, the actions of the Indian Health Service were still illegal and immoral. ... Undeniably, the measures taken by the Indian Health Service were genocidal. ... This was a cruel attempt by the government to rid them of their culture and traditions and influence them to take up the European American way of life. ... Many of the American Indians are against the use of native names, symbols, gestures, and other representations of their heritage. ...
Through the use of sports teams’ mascots, forced sterilization, and reservations, the treatment of the American Indian race amounts to various types of genocidal activities.
