|
|
Rap music, is a type of R&B that consists of rhythmic vocals mixed over a musical background. ... The first rap recording was made in 1979 and the genre rose to prominence in the United States in the mid-1980s. Although the term rap is often confused with hip-hop, hip-hop is the subculture that rap music is a part of. The term hip-hop comes from one of the earliest phrases used in rap, and can be found in the song “Rapper’s Delight” by the Sugarhill Gang, which was the first known rap song to ever be released in mainstream, in 1979. In addition to rap music, the hip-hop subculture also is made up of other forms of expression, including break dancing and graffiti art as well as slang vocabulary and a new style of fashion all its own.
