A Beautiful Mind
Schizophrenia is a psychosis characterized by seclusiveness and extreme withdrawal from the realities of life. A person with schizophrenia has peculiar mannerisms, delusions, and is confused as to time and place. Many people suffer from schizophrenia today. One well-known individual who suffered from this disease is John Nash. Nash’s life tells of the sad story about the effects of schizophrenia on his genius, and about how the disease can affect one’s entire life. Enrolled as a graduate student at Princeton in 1948, John Nash does not go to one class, which he feels will only “dull your minds.” Nash calculates his mathematical theories on the library window, and works long hours to try to find his “creative idea” that will help him make a difference in the prestigious world of mathematics.
