BANDURAS THEORY

BANDURA’S THEORY
The main focus for my essay is to discuss the relevance of Bandura’s social cognitive theory as a teacher of adolescents. In doing so I will relate some of the methods (behaviour, self-efficacy), that are used in Banduras theory and also mention the four distinct observational learning processes which are the attentional, retention, motor reproduction and the motivational processes. ... With this in mind I feel a physical education classroom is focussed more on a social basis, where children learn from the teacher and others, which I think as a teacher relates well to Banduras theory.

First of all I want to give an outline of what the social cognitive theory is about, whilst relating examples throughout my essay linking Banduras theory to teaching adolescents using different methods and processes.

The social cognitive theory is basically about human behaviour as a reciprocal interaction of personal factors, behaviour and imitation. ... The theory upholds the behaviourist notion that response consequences mediate behaviour, it contends that behaviour is largely regulated antecedently through cognitive processes, therefore response consequences of a behaviour are used to form expectations of behavioural outcomes. ... In addition, the theory posits that most behaviour is learned vicariously. ...

As I have mentioned various examples throughout Banduras theory, the four distinct learning processes and teaching styles, I still want to counteract some more on how to relate some methods to the style of teaching adolescents.

The main reason I chose Banduras theory is out of the obvious that I strongly agreed with his teaching style and have had experiences at my previous skill where I believed the teacher was using the cognitive style of teaching. ...

In conclusion I think that there is importance in every method and process I have explained and I find relating to Banduras theory very easy because I want to someday use my background knowledge in teaching the future adolescents this theory.
