This paper aims to discuss both the effects of binge drinking on the campuses of
America’s colleges and universities and techniques used to stop it. Binge drinking is
defined as , “the consumption of five or more drinks in succession for a man, four or
more for a woman”(Harvard School of Public Health 3). Binge drinking is rapidly
growing on today’s colleges and universities. ...
America has managed to keep the same percentage of its students from drinking
the last five years, while at the same time binge drinking has been on the rise (5). While
49 percent of college students binge, only 28 percent of their non-college counterparts do
(Harvard School of Public Health 4). ... College students who drink
both men and women, usually start drinking as freshmen and think they will outgrow the
problem (Claypool,Jane 1).
