Behaviorism

Behaviorism Case Study The following is a case study by, for the most part, using the ideas of Skinner’s operate conditioning to describe how particular behaviors could take place. The study is centered around an attractive, talented, and likeable young girl named Roseanne. She begins to miss school due to anxieties that she feels while she is attending school. This starts in the fourth grade and carries on until high school. At times she feels so uncomfortable that she misses extended periods of the school year and has to attend home school. Her father also admittedly suffers from similar anxiety problems in public. This explanation will attempt to describe what factors has aided in maintaining these negative symptoms in Roseanne, as well as what has increased of decreased her symptoms. Maintaining It is fair to speculate that Roseanne has been passed down an anxiety disorder from her father. However, since her sister also seemed to exhibit similar traits of the disorder but was later restored to health, I can speculate that Roseanne’s severity came from the reinforcement of certain behaviors that helped her attempt to cope.
