Catch Me If You Can pages 1-152 "I left home at sixteen, looking for me." This is the first "hook" sentence to Catch Me If You Can. The book introduces the narrorator Frank Abagnale Jr. as a distraut teenager with a dual home life. His parents had just split up and Frank's dad has him playing cupid trying to win back his Mother. Frank Sr.'s stationary business went "tips up" due to credit card problems. In the middle of this tragedy and heart-broken about his dad's lost status, Frank leaves home. One early June morning he woke up and knew it was time to go. "Some remote corner of the world seemed to be whispering, "Come." So I went." (Frank, page 21) Frank Jr. headed to New York with only $200 in a bank account his dad had set up for him. This bank account is his first motivation towords his future as a con artist. Just off the train he met a boy his own age and conned him into taking him home with him. Being the polite young man he was he did not abuse their hospitality. He stayed there while he worked at a stationary store for $1.50 an hour. While in New York Frank learned a valuable lesson; he wasn't under-payed because he was a high school drop out, it was because he was 16.
