What if a great philosopher lived nineteenth century, Ralph Waldo Emerson, would come to Northern Virginia Community College of the twentieth century, and be given the post of the President? Certainly, the college under his presidency would be different from the one we have now, because of the possible changes that he would imply. This essay infers three main changes that Emerson would make in the college, according to his ideals studied from some of his various essays. Any new president in college who is expected to make any changes, the priority would be on academic field, because that is what college is all about. ...
Emerson’s’ presidency at Nova might bring a strong wave of individuality in the college community. Although, Emerson would greatly appreciates the variety of courses and degrees that the college already offers. ... So, it would be a slight change, by just allowing more freedom of subject choice that he would make in terms of course offering in the college. ... Because some of these kinds of concepts are already in use in college, such as the use of laboratory classes the college offers.
