Euthanasia

The applied ethical issue of euthanasia, or mercy killing, concerns whether it is morally permissible for a third person, such as physician, to end the life of a terminally ill patient who is in terrible pain. Formerly called “mercy killing,” “euthanasia” means a “gentle and easy death.” The euthanasia controversy is part of a larger issue concerning the right to die. ... Therefore, euthanasia should be allowed to people who have no hope in the future concerning their illness.
As people know, euthanasia has been legalized in some countries and states; and, for instance, people still discuss if either decision is correct or not. I think the practice of euthanasia and assisted suicide is fair, so patients will not be forced to remain alive by being “hooked up” to machines. ... Laws against euthanasia and assisted suicide are intended to prevent abuse and protect people from unscrupulous doctors and other people who make the choice for the patient, such as family and friends. ... “Patients would be frightened of their doctors if voluntary euthanasia was allowed. [But] without voluntary euthanasia, only the terminally ill patient decides if death is preferable to life. ...
People affirm that euthanasia and assisted suicide are about changing public policy so that doctors or others can directly, and intentionally, end or participate in taking another person’s life; these people establish that euthanasia and assisted suicide are not about the right to die, but about the right to kill.
