Essay on Folklore

A1) For my violation of a folkway I chose to use your example of standing in front of an elevator full of people and facing them. I also added my own twist to violating this folkway by talking to the other people in the elevator with an accent from India or something like that. This past weekend my brother, a couple of his buddies, and me went to Lakeland for a flag football tournament. We stayed in a hotel there and obviously it had an elevator. This was an excellent opportunity for me to violate this particular folkway. I waited until about 12:30 p.m. and then went to check out the elevators. I figured at about 12:30 the elevators would be busy with people going to lunch and it was also after check in time so new people would be showing up to stay at the hotel. I wanted to wait and find an elevator that was as full as possible and I was also looking for an elevator that had many diverse people in it. When I say diverse I am talking about race, gender, and age. I wanted to see the different reactions from the different types of people. Finally I found an elevator with two younger boys, a middle aged black man about 45 and an old couple around 65.
