Famous Mathematicians

Aristotle was not primarily a mathematician, but made many contributions to the mathematical world. He was the author of philosophical and a scientific system that through centuries was the support for medieval Christian and Islamic Scholastic thought. Aristotle was born in 384 BC in Stagrius, Greece and died 322 BC in Chalcis, Greece. It is said that Plato was just a nickname given to him meaning “The Broad”. This nickname might have been given to him for many reasons maybe because of hi broad shoulders, his sense of thinking or just the size of his forehead. His real name is said to be Aristocles. From 409 BC to 404 BC Plato severed in the army during the Peloponnesian War. Plato is to believe to have also known Socrates. Plato was born 427 BC in Athens and died 347 BC in Athens.
